You may have already seen this, but if not, here it is!
I am writing at the request of the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) and MetroLab. They have launched a brief survey to gather input from the research community and hope you will complete and/or forward it.
Their survey seeks to answer a central question:
How do faculty and staff at universities approach collaboration with local government, and what would make research more actionable?
You can access the survey here. It should take no more than five minutes to complete. FAS and MetroLab would appreciate responses submitted by Friday, August 21. Survey findings will be shared with the community later this fall.
Background
Earlier this year, MetroLab published the Civic Research Agenda, a national report identifying priority knowledge gaps facing cities and counties. The report also examined how universities and local governments work together, highlighting perceptions, challenges, and successful partnership models.
Building on that work, this survey aims to capture the perspectives of university faculty and staff engaged in research, community partnerships, and public impact efforts.
Because the Civic Research Agenda is intended to reflect a broad national perspective, FAS and MetroLab encourage wide participation. So, in addition to potentially completing the survey, please also consider sharing it with colleagues whose work intersects with local government and community-engaged research.
