OFFICE FOR PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
 

The University of Minnesota Office for Public Engagement (OPE) seeks an Engagement Impact Manager to work with programs, departments, and academic units throughout the University's five campus system to establish the institutional culture, policies, and infrastructure that promotes high-quality public engagement to further the University’s mission and improve the quality of life of Minnesotans and communities around the world.  Job # 360454.

Areas of responsibility include:


  •  Leading the University's Public Engagement Footprint initiative, a database and map that details the breadth and scope of the University’s service, outreach, and community engagement across the state of Minnesota and beyond; 
  • Tracking and measuring the impacts of the University’s public engagement activities through data sources such as the faculty reporting system, sponsored projects, course catalog and enrollment data, and additional institutional data systems; 
  • Overseeing the onboarding, adoption, and implementation of GivePulse, the University's system for documenting community engagement;
  •  In collaboration with team members and stakeholders, developing appropriate metrics, tracking, and evaluation strategies for the University’s public engagement activities;  
  • Providing consultation for public engagement units on strategies and best practices in data and evaluation practices; 
  • Coordinating with OPE staff members on the implementation and utilization of a systemwide data collection software to create more consistent and sustainable public engagement data strategies; 
  • Cleaning, analyzing, and communicating public engagement data in alignment with internal and external stakeholder groups; and
  •  With the Director for Public Engagement Initiatives, preparing and coordinating public engagement reports that support rankings and accreditation submissions including the Carnegie Foundation Elective Classification for Community Engagement, Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, the Higher Learning Commission submission, Student Experience in the Research University findings, etc.

Robert J. Jones Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center

The University of Minnesota Robert J. Jones Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center's (UROC) Director of Community-Engaged Research leads the center's mission-driven work related to community-engaged scholarship and research in three community-identified priority areas: health and wellness;
education and lifelong learning; and community and economic development. Since opening its doors in 2009, North Minneapolis-based UROC has earned a national reputation for building innovative and respectful collaborations and creating new models of urban and community development. Job # 360185.

Areas of responsibility include:
 

  • Working with the UROC Advisory Council to identify potential research questions, develop University-community research and engagement teams to address the questions, and identify and support funding proposals to support the research;
  • Designing, conducting, and reporting on studies for each project that provide formative and summative evaluation of strategies for implementation and dissemination as well as of partnership practices and quality;
  • Contributing to the scholarly literature on university-community partnerships and related areas such as implementation science or translational research;
  •  Co-leading UROC graduate student and faculty research fellows programs;
  • Contributing to the University of Minnesota Office of Public Engagement’s professional development agenda to build capacity of the University’s faculty, staff, and students to do high-quality engaged scholarship in partnership with urban communities; and
  • Building research partnerships with University faculty, staff and students, community and governmental organizations, and residents to ensure that UROC is meeting its community-anchored research mission.
