Hi Frances,
See the message below. The email addresses have been removed. However, do not expect that this will change anything. Making any information about our conference available to the public makes these types of scams possible. The best action would be to kindly ask our speakers to ignore these messages.
Thanks!
Craig

Hey Craig!
I've got those email addresses removed from the website. I also looked up the website for Exhibition Hub and they seem to at least have been an entity for a while so the fact the original emailer is using the company name @gmail.com leads me to believe this is a scammer attempting to spoof a company that hasn't had a presence post-covid.
Unfortunately, this appears to be a case of someone scraping the website and using targeted attempts towards listed members of the conference. The primary way to defend against this would be to have the information hidden behind a login, however, we don't have those capabilities currently for non University affiliated individuals.
Even with a login though, we have the individuals and their photos posted so cross-referencing them with an email address for the company they work at wouldn't be an extraordinary lift if an individual/group wanted to target them.
Thank You!

Hi Kyle,
See the messages below. We have had another request to remove all the email addresses from our conference website. Could you please take care of this when you get a moment?
The list of attendees to the conference is not public knowledge. If you have any ideas on how to resolve these issues, just let me know.
Thanks!

Thanks for sending this along, Claudia!
We received a similar forwarded email from another speaker and have verified with our conference platform that conference attendees’ information is not visible, and I can assure you that 2460 people have not registered for the conference! I believe this is just a spam email to ignore but we’re doing our due diligence to keep that information internal.
Apologies for the trouble,

Subject: Final: Heuermann Lecture press release
Good afternoon,
I’m happy to share the final version of the press release for the April 29 Heuermann announcement (attached).
Jordan has also already updated the website here: https://heuermannlectures.unl.edu/
Our promotions plan from DWFI side includes:
* Press release posted as news story on DWFI website (ASAP)
* Email blast to stakeholders (Today)
* UNL Newsroom submission for Nebraska Today (Today)
* Press release to DWFI media contacts (Today)
* Social media promotion on all DWFI platforms (Ongoing) (Optional graphics [Folder icon] here<https://uofnelincoln.sharepoint.com/:f:/s/UNL-IANRDaughertyWaterforFoodInst…>.)
* Story in Digest Newsletter to DWFI stakeholders (first week of April)
IANR team, can you include in IANR News and share on your platforms as well?
As Cara mentioned, Mike Boehm will be unavailable to provide opening comments, but her team is reaching out to Tiffany Heng-Moss. Peter McCornick will close out the lecture. In the past, I believe IANR has provided speaker gifts for Heuermann Lecture participants. Is this something you’d like to do again?
We have connected Mike Kamm with our AV team for the conference (Claire at Sonburst) to coordinate livestreaming for the event.
I believe that’s it for now. Thanks so much for your patience on this! It has been a challenge to coordinate all the moving parts but am glad to see it come together.
Let me know if you have questions – thanks!

Good afternoon!

Let me know if you have any suggested changes and I hope to hear from our speakers soon! (Side note: Mike Boehm has been confirmed to provide a brief introduction, and Peter McCornick will provide the closing. I have asked Craig to connect with Mike Kamm and out A/V team to coordinate livestreaming on the IANR website similarly to how it was done in 2023.

Subject: Heuermann Lecture participant details
Good afternoon,
Since all participants are now confirmed for the upcoming Heuermann Lecture, I’m sending a quick email to connect everyone and thank you all for your participation! I’m really looking forward to this event and think it will add a lot of value and discussion fodder for our conference attendees.
As a quick refresher, Jesse Bell, DWFI Director of Water, Climate and Health, will be moderating the discussion. Claudia Ringer of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) will provide a brief lecture and then all panelists (including Claudia, Abbie Raikes of the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Brandon Hunnicutt, Nebraska Grower and Chairman of the Nebraska Corn Board) will engage in a moderated discussion with a mix of pre-determined questions and questions from the audience. The session is slated for Tuesday, April 29, 4:30-6 p.m. at the Nebraska Innovation Campus Conference Center in Lincoln, Neb. and followed by an evening reception in the same space. And we hope you are also able to join us for the rest of the conference sessions and events<https://waterforfood.nebraska.edu/explore-our-conferences/2025-water-for-fo…>!
I’d like for us meet at some point prior to the event and will send out some options soon.
In the meantime, please review the attached press release and let me know if you have any changes by EOD tomorrow (March 19) if possible. I apologize for the quick request, so do let me know if you need more time to review.
All the best,
Frances Hayes

Hi, Tala and Amber
Due to extenuating circumstances, I’m unable to attend the 2025 Water for Food Global Conference. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause the planning committee and conference attendees.
Thank you so much for inviting me to participate as a panel member for the “Artificial intelligence for climate smart solutions and resilient agriculture” session. I regret missing this meeting and hope that you will have sufficient time to find another speaker on the panel.

Hi Mike,
I hope all is well with you. We are once again thinking about the upcoming 2025 Water for Food Global Conference. It is set for April 28-May 2, 2025. We will be livestreaming part of the conference. We would like your assistance to help monitor the livestream feeds, and provide any immediate IT assistance. We do not need help with AV or the distribution through the internet. We have a separate AV contractor hired to help with this. Would you be able to help us with this?
If have any questions or need additional information, just let me know.

Hi Jude,
Our team discussed in our comms meeting today and if this person provides a certain expertise you wouldn’t get otherwise, we’re willing to make an exception and allow a pre-recorded talk and complimentary virtual registration instead of the in-person registration. We would ask that our team coordinate a time with them to record the talk to ensure the audio and video is of good quality. I’ll leave it up to you and Jess whether to go this route or opt to find someone else to particulate. Hope that helps and also that you’re enjoying your vacation!

Hi Jess,
Good to hear from you - the news is terrible but I’m on leave this week in Italy, which is a wonderful distraction!
The conference is in-person only I’m pretty sure, but I’ll check with Frances (copied here) to see if any exceptions can be made. Circumstances are after all far from normal.
I’ll also come back to you on the indigenous water rights issue, I agree it would be very valuable.

I also wanted to touch base about the Indigenous connections you mentioned earlier in our conversations. It would be wonderful to engage with anyone who may be in a position to speak about water rights related to tenure and agriculture from an Indigenous perspective. I’m also working with Chloe from RRI to identify folks along this line.
Any thoughts or guidance you have would be very welcome! Thank you!
