Thanks,

Hi Bob,

Thank you so much for your willingness to present this award to Peter! Here is a sample script for tomorrow, immediately following the View from the Field panel, but feel free to ad lib. I will have the award ready for you under the podium:

2:00 - 3:15 p.m.  View from the Field

                   Frances: Introductions

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the View from the Field panel. In this session, we get to hear from those literally in the field – the farmers who are making it happen and those who work directly with them to support their work. I’m pleased to introduce our moderator for this important session, Jackie Ourada, with Nebraska Public Media.

(Jackie introduces the panelists)

Jay Reiners, Nebraska producer, Secretary/treasurer of the U.S. Grain Council Board of Directors

Karen Trujillo, farmer and agronomy engineer, El Salvador

Samir Ibrahim, CEO, SunCulture, Kenya

Tracy Zink, Nebraska farmer and Chairwoman of the NE Sorghum Producers BOD

Dhone Dugnani, rural producer in western Bahia, Brazil

[Introductions and Q&A continue]

Bob Meaney: Closing + Award presentation

Thank you to our panelists and moderator for providing their important perspectives.

I’m Bob Meaney and a member of the Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute International Advisory Panel. This evening, we will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute. And for 8 of those years, our Executive Director Peter McCornick has helped guide the institute to achieving its goals. This is Peter's last conference as our executive director before he transitions to a new role with the university later this summer. Would you please join me in thanking Peter for his dedication to water and food security as he joins me on stage?

Frances:

Thank you so much, Bob, for serving on the search committee when Peter came on board and both of you for your dedication to the institute.

Next up is another round of concurrent sessions. Check your app for full details but you can find:

Building Drought Resilience is hosted here in the Auditorium

Producing more with less will be in Breakout A

Indigenous Communities and Water will be in Breakout B.

Following the concurrent sessions, our 15th Anniversary Reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Country Pines, an off-site event venue. You are welcome to take your own vehicle and parking is available. A map to the venue is available in the conference app or in your printed conference program.

We are also offering an optional complimentary shuttle to and from Country Pines starting immediately after the concurrent sessions. To catch the shuttle, please meet at the marked shuttle location to the southwest of the conference center. You’ll go out the south doors (near Breakout B), take a right and then follow the signs. A map to the shuttle is also available in the conference app, or visit the Registration Desk for more assistance. Multiple trips will be made to and from Country Pines beginning now and the event will conclude at 8:00 p.m.

Hi Bob,

We’re thinking about moving the award presentation to right after the “View from the Field session 2:00- 3:15 p.m. tomorrow in the auditorium. Would you or Mogens be available then?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Bob,

It was so good to see you yesterday! I was wondering if you’ll still be in Lincoln on Thursday during our final closing session Noon-12:30 p.m. and if so, if you’d be willing to present Peter with an award since it will be his final conference as Executive Director. It would just be a couple minutes; I have an optional script for you, and we already have the award. Sorry for the late notice - we decided last minute that it would be nice to have a member of the IAP present the award!

Thanks!
