Nebraska Innovation Studio is Offering a Commercial Drone License Prep Course
Business owners, employees, students and general members of the public are learning to fly drones for personal and professional use through a new course at Nebraska
Innovation Studio. The first students took flight this week in the prep course that is meant to prepare them for the Federal Aviation Administration Aeronautical Knowledge Test.
The class spent two days learning in a classroom, experiencing hands-on flying and left ready to pass the test and legally fly drones commercially.
The program is one of many within the Heartland Robotics Cluster, which was created from a $25 million federal award as part of the $1 billion Build Back Better
Regional Challenge administered by the U.S. Economic Development Administration.
The next class will be Aug. 12-13 and the plan is to hold a class every six to eight weeks, but it may not be offered during winter months. The class costs $200.
The studio is also partnering with Nebraska Extension, which is offering a one-day training focused on agricultural drones in western Nebraska.

Parking at NIC
NIC visitors that do not have a NIC parking permit or a UNL parking permit are required to pay for parking in the paved lot north of Transformation Drive using the Passport Parking app. This is the same parking app used when people park on the street at NIC,
in downtown Lincoln and in the Haymarket.
Parking Zones:
The paved lot north of Transformation Drive is Zone 9900 on the Passport Parking app. On-street parking at NIC is Zone 80. Parking in downtown Lincoln and the Haymarket is Zone 75.
Enforcement:
Paid parking in the paved lot north of Transformation Drive is enforced from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. On-street metered parking is enforced from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
