Mark Nelson grew up on a diversified livestock and crop farm, which led him to pursue BS degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Education from
the University of Nebraska. He is currently the Cattle Supply Manager at Sustainable Beef, where he oversees pricing, inventory management, and program verification. As the facility prepares for its spring 2025 opening, Mark is focused on building a weekly
supply base to meet the demand for 400,000 cattle annually and developing essential infrastructure programs.
With over 30 years of experience in the beef industry, Mark has held various roles at Cargill, including front-line management, cattle buying, and managing the Angus America program. He later worked in procurement at Meyer Natural Foods, where he developed
audit programs and new brands. Additionally, Mark led program development and North American sales for Growsafe and spent several years as an independent consultant, advising on breed associations, seedstock breeders, sales management, auditing, and branded
beef programs. This extensive experience has led him to his current role in supply chain management at Sustainable Beef.
