SciComm is a conference dedicated to understanding and promoting effective communication of science to diverse audiences - including students of all levels as well as the general public - across all venues. The virtual conference will include keynote speakers, featured speakers, panels, a film festival, Science Slam and 15-minute talks from conference attendees. Register by Oct. 18th

It is that time of year again... ASGSA (Animal Science Graduate Student Association) is selling turkeys!

All turkey sale proceeds will fund ASGSA travel and other group expenses. Turkeys will come in small (10-14 lbs) for $35, medium (14-16 lbs) for $40, large (16-18 lbs) for $45, and extra-large (18-22) for $50. This year the dates to pick up your thawed and ready to cook turkey from Loeffel Meats Lab will be Monday, November 25th and Tuesday, November 26th. If you would like to order a turkey contact Paige Madison at (507) 329-6553 or pmadison2@huskers.unl.edu. All orders will be due by Friday, November 8th.

October 1 - 30th - Farm to Schools National Crunch Off! Compete with other CASNR departments to crunch on fresh produce the month of Oct. Nuts, popcorn, and beef sticks also qualify. Winner will be announced Oct. 31st. Take a picture and/or video and post with hashtags #CASNRCrunchOff #NEFarmtoshcools #FDST!

The American Egg Board’s Eggcelerator Lab® is excited to launch its 2025 Product Development Competition. This competition will engage, excite, and encourage students to think big by showcasing their knowledge, expertise, and ideas in creating food products that focus on New and Novel Uses for Egg Yolks.

Scholarships

The WFFC was founded in 1982 by a group of forward-thinking members whose vision was to provide women with a forum for networking, education, career advancement, and camaraderie. In standing true to our mission to educate, engage and empower woman in the flavor and fragrance industry, the WFFC is proud to announce that we are now accepting applications for the following scholarships:

2025 WFFC Rita Flynn Memorial Fragrance Scholarship

2025 WFFC Flavor Scholarship

2025 WFFC She Works Scholarship

Each $3,000 scholarship award will be granted to a woman who submits an application sharing details that agree with the criteria outlined. Detailed criteria for each scholarship and the application can be found here.

Deadline for submission is 4:30pm on December 2

Emily J. Prior Scholarship Fund - The Prior Scholarship fund program was established in loving memory of Emily Prior for her dedicated military service as Chief, Concepts and Systems Division, Army Center of Excellence Subsistence (ACES). The purpose of this scholarship is to honor and assist qualified students who are majoring in food science, packaging, or related areas. The 2024 Award recipients will be notified on January 31, 2025. Application deadline, December 31, 2024
