Dr. Song began his position at UNL in 2019 with a joint appointment in the Departments of Biological Systems Engineering and Food Science & Technology.
He is also a member of Nebraska Food for Health Center. Prior to joining UNL, he worked as a Senior Research Scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), where he led microbiome modeling teams across several research programs. At UNL, he has
continued to play a leadership role in collaborating with PNNL and SoilSystems – a major research initiative in Germany. Since 2017, he has served on the scientific and organizing committee for the Metabolic Pathway Analysis conference. Dr. Song earned his
B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Korea University and completed his postdoctoral researcher in the School of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University.
