Good evening relatives!
We’re excited about the upcoming field trip to Omaha on Friday, December 6th, where students will have the opportunity to meet Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer, author of
Braiding Sweetgrass, and participate in a lunch discussion. I’ve attached the itinerary and permission slip to this email.
To ensure everything goes smoothly, here are the instructions for excusing your student’s absence:
- Contact Your Student’s School Building:
Families must contact the school directly to excuse their student’s absence.
- The absence will be coded as a
PA (Parent Excused Absence).
- If the school is not contacted to excuse the absence, it will be coded as
TR (Truant), which also counts toward the 20-absence threshold.
- Please be aware that PA absences count toward the
20-absence threshold.
- LPS Indian Education Support: LPS Indian Education cannot inform the school of a student’s absence but can assist families with the process if needed.

Don’t forget your permission slip!
- Completed Permission Slips: Completed permission slips must be submitted before a student can depart on Friday morning. A signed permission slip (digital or physical) must be
returned to Molly Phemister before getting on the van.
Kind regards,
Louise
