Hi team,
I’ve updated the group meeting plan for the next three weeks.
Just a reminder – when it is your turn to do a background/research presentation the idea is to do a short (5 minutes) overview of your personal background and then a review (about 25 minutes) of your research and the progress you’ve made this semester.
Let me know if you have any questions,
Iverson

Hello all,
Do we still have full access to Biorender? I put in the username and password I thought was for our lab, but it says it is wrong. Did we change the password? Let me know if anyone knows the login or if something changed.
Thanks!

Subject: BME Seminar & Lunch
Hi all!
This month's BME seminar (04.19.24) is hosting an external speaker from the University of Iowa.
Dr. Kievit has asked me to reach out to graduate students (and post docs) who would be interested in getting lunch with Dr. Mu on Thursday (04.18).
Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend due to the MMoD symposium, but this talk focuses on an interesting approach for regenerative medicine (spiders are cool, right?) and I think he would be an interesting person to meet.
Could you disseminate this flyer to your labs? If you or anyone in your labs are interested in attending lunch with Dr. Mu, please let me know by next Monday (04.15).
Thanks,
Brandon

Hello everyone,
Thank you for showing interest in attending this year WIS event!
As you all received the announcement for the event previously from Dr. Iverson, this event will be on Friday and Saturday 4/5 and 4/6. I have also included some details just to make sure everyone is informed about the plan.
1.
For Friday, the event will be on Innovation Campus from 2-3:30 p.m. I will be going to the Friday event as well. So far, I know that Trisam and James are coming. Please respond to this email if you are coming and need a ride, so we can arrange to carpool.
1.
1.
For Saturday, the event will be at the Willa Cather Dining Complex on the first floor. Please, let's meet at 8:15 a.m. to set up the tables. Let me know if you are coming and need a ride so that we could coordinate the carpool.
2.
For those of you who did not get to attend last year and are not familiar with the project, we can talk about it tomorrow in the office sometime between 10:30-12 p.m.
3.
You do not need to do anything other than showing up and be there in case students have questions or need help with something. It'd be cool if you are prepared to chat with students about your research or biomedical engineering in general while walking around their table to inspire future engineers!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
I'm so excited to run this event all together!
Best,
Samereh

Good morning labmates, I hope this email finds you well
About sharing the journals we discuss during the meeting, last Monday we agreed to submit them to the “Journal Club” folder in SharePoint: 2024<https://uofnelincoln.sharepoint.com/:f:/r/sites/Restricted-UNL-niverson2/Sh…>
After we present, please move the journal to your respective folder. This way we will limit the number of emails :)
See you later :)

Hello everyone (including males, we need males to help with this event too!),
As I’ve mentioned in the group meeting, there is a Women in Science event on Friday (4/5) and Saturday (4/6) during which female high school students from around the state come to UNL to learn about science/engineering. We participated last year and it was a lot of fun! It would be great if as many people as possible could participate this year too.
Please email back to everyone and let us know if you will or will not participate. Maybe we can have a running list of who will and will not attend. I need to know by the end of this week. I will see if I can get T-shirts for you to wear at Saturday’s event, so also list your T-shirt size if you can attend on Saturday.
Here is the information:
Friday, 4/5:
You would be assisting the professors that are going to be running the event. You will help to direct the students in case they try to wander away from the group. This event is less important than Saturday, but if a few of you could help it would be greatly appreciated!
2:00 - 3:30 p.m.
Tour Schedule:
2:00 – 2:25 p.m. Tour #1
2:25 – 2:30 p.m. Rotate
2:30 – 2:55 p.m. Tour #2
2:55 – 3:00 p.m. Rotate
3:00 – 3:25 p.m. Tour #3
Rotating groups of 25 people between Nebraska Innovation Studio, Food Innovation Center, Greenhouse Innovation Center
Saturday, 4/6:
Samereh will be leading you in two sessions during which you will work with 15 – 20 students to teach them about BME in general and protein folding specifically. You will walk around the room going from group to group to help the students and in general just offer them support. You will also be able to talk to them about your experiences and answer any questions that they have.
Event is at the Willa Cather Dining complex on the first floor.
Set up for event is at 9 am
First group of students 9:30 – 10:30 am
Second group of students 10:45 – 11:45 am
Anyone that is participating in these events needs to fill out a form (super quick) by Friday. Here is the information:
Complete YASP form - As this event involves minors, everyone participating must complete the youth activity safety form. Please go to https://scimath-portal.unl.edu/upcoming-events and click on Upcoming Events and choose 2024 Youth Activity Worker Sign Up. If this is first time visiting in the portal, you will be asked to create an account.
Let me know if you have any questions and thanks in advance for your participation in this event!
