Giving Thanks for Our Amazing Team!
As we enter this season of thanksgiving, we just want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you. Your hard work, dedication, and positive energy have made a huge impact—not just on our projects, but on the students, faculty, and staff we support every single day.
This fall, we tackled the Fall 2025 maintenance project, and wow—what a team effort! From planning to execution, you all showed what collaboration and commitment really look like. And that’s just one highlight. Throughout the year, you’ve been juggling multiple projects, solving problems on the fly, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
Whether it’s answering questions, troubleshooting issues, or making sure systems are ready for the next big thing, your everyday work matters. It keeps our campuses connected and our community thriving.
So here’s to you—the people who make it all happen. We couldn’t do it without your expertise, creativity, and teamwork. Let’s finish the semester strong and keep making a difference together!

Fall 2025 Campus Solutions Maintenance Wrap up
We are anticipating a successful application of the Fall 2025 Campus Solutions maintenance to the NU/SC Production instances this Sunday evening to bring another maintenance application cycle to an end. Due to the testing efforts of all of you, we were able to identify and resolve over 30 issues that would have caused issues in production if they hadn't been found. In addition, we asked you to test all of your dashboard and eforms to gather information for the accessibility project, which required even more of your time, but is providing valuable information for the NeSIS team and campus portal admins.
It's been said over and over, but we realize this requires a lot of time and effort on your part and we truly are grateful for your efforts.

EDU.API: Shaping the Future of Student Information System Integration
Higher education institutions face a growing challenge: managing dozens of integrations between Student Information Systems (SIS) and other campus applications. At NeSIS, we currently support around 60 integrations, plus additional connections through tools like WebFocus and Campus Data Marts. This complexity is not unique to us—it’s a widespread issue across the sector. Over the past few years, vendors have aggressively marketed solutions such as iPaaS platforms and Enterprise Service Bus technologies. While these promise easier integration, they often introduce proprietary data schemas and formats, locking institutions into costly, customized ecosystems. In many cases, this means trading one problem for another.
To address this, the higher education community launched EDU.API, an open standard designed to simplify and standardize SIS integrations. Its goals are clear:
* Reduce cost and complexity of implementing and maintaining integrations.
* Promote standardized institutional and student data models, making SIS data more consistent, interpretable, and reliable.
What’s Coming with EDU.API?
The initiative is rolling out in phases:
* Version 1 (Enrollment, Curriculum, Offerings, Academic Term) was developed in 2024 and is now in production at NeSIS.
* Version 2 (Class Details, LMS, Grading, Student Bio/Demo) was released in 2025, with NeSIS planning implementation by the end of 2026.
* Version 3 (Advising, Planning, Tutoring, Transcripts, Credentials) is expected in 2026.
This phased approach ensures institutions can adopt standards gradually while preparing for the next generation of SIS platforms.
Why It Matters
Standardizing integrations around open data models positions universities for smoother transitions as vendors move toward SaaS-based ERP systems. It also reduces vendor lock-in, improves security, and accelerates application onboarding—similar to how web standards made websites work across all browsers.
Global Momentum
EDU.API builds on the success of 1EdTech, the organization behind widely adopted standards like OneRoster, Open Badges, and LTI. Institutions worldwide—led by board members Princeton University and Boise State—are actively shaping EDU.API’s future. As more universities include EDU.API in RFPs, vendors are aligning their solutions to support native integrations, accelerating adoption.
Get Involved
Learn more at 1EdTech EDU.API. Advocate within your teams, participate in governance and testing, and encourage vendors to certify their solutions. Together, we can make SIS integration simpler, more secure, and future-ready.

2025 Accessibility Review Project Update
A huge thank you to all of the campus testers who went above and beyond testing this PUM cycle! In addition to the 3 PUMs, we asked you to test all of your campus dashboards and eforms to identify the accessibility issues so the portal administrators could resolve those issues prior to the federal deadline this spring. The endeavor was a huge success! We identified hundreds of issues the portal admins have been working to mitigate. Several accessibility projects will be going to PRD with the PUMs and others will be following up in the coming weeks. Although it's not the end of the accessibility review project and we still have more to do, this was a huge step in the right direction.
