Looking Forward to Another Successful Academic Year!

Hello all!

 

I’m not sure how it is August already but it’s that time of year to prep for the fall term as well as a strategic planning refresh. NeSIS is discussing the strategic plan during a retreat, and we’ll be sending an update soon. I am thrilled to have been named as the permanent NeSIS AVP going forward and expect that our planning discussions can evolve into a longer-term framework.

 

We are getting ready for HEUC 2024! We have some great sessions planned and look forward to getting together with everyone again in Kearney on the UNK campus. Just prior to that, the Oracle Student Strategy Council will have a virtual meeting in August and an in-person event at Oracle CloudWorld so there should be some innovative ideas and news to share from those meetings.

Here we go Again!!

First of all, thank you to everyone that helped identify and resolve almost 60 issues in our most recent PeopleTools 8.60 upgrade process. Those were 60 issues that would have a huge negative impact on processes in Production. 

 

Now it's time to look forward to our next maintenance cycle for this Fall. After presenting several options to the campus Integration Team members, it was decided to apply PUMs 31, 32 and 33 together. The schedule is still being solidified, but testing in TST will likely begin in early October with a Production date in mid-November. The final schedule will be communicated via the weekly Change Control meetings and other group meetings.

June 2024 NeSIS Award Winner

The NeSIS Employee Shining Impactful Superstar award winner for June 2024 was Helen Frankhauser.

Helen is a PeopleSoft Security Analyst and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the NeSIS Team. Helen does a masterful job of coordinating the annual IT security audit performed by the State auditors which requires a lot of gathering information and answering questions/inquiries by the auditors. She also works with the NeSIS Team, ITS and campus security coordinators to ensure the security within PeopleSoft and other NeSIS-related systems as well as access management and general security principles. Thank you, Helen, for your hard work and dedication!

HUEC 2024 Update

 

The excitement is really building as the next HEUC conference is less than 2 months away!  We are looking forward to two days of collaborating and learning from each other and the chance to reconnect with old friends and make new ones!!

 

The conference committee is in the process of finalizing the agenda and schedule with almost 40 general and breakout sessions. An announcement will be made when the website has been updated with those details.

  • Conference Events:  We will again have a social hour Wednesday night with refreshments and entertainment. If you have campus items you would like to donate as prizes, please bring them along. We will kick off Thursday morning with a group walk and our community service project will be in support of the S.A.F.E. Center in Kearney. A list of items that we will be collecting will be available on the HEUC website along with additional information on the other conference events.
