Dear Research Community,
We are writing to share an important update from the Nebraska Center for Biotechnology Microscopy Core.
After 28 years of dedicated service, Dr. You “Joe” Zhou has retired as Founding Director of the Microscopy Core. Joe built the core from the ground up and supported generations of researchers with exceptional expertise, mentorship, and care. We are deeply grateful for his lasting impact on our research community.
We are pleased to share that Dr. Bara Altartouri has assumed the role of Interim Director. Bara has been with the Microscopy Core for almost 4 years and brings strong expertise in advanced light and electron microscopy. He has supported a wide range of research projects across the UNL community and is well known for his commitment to user training, experimental design, and high-quality scientific support. Under his leadership, the Microscopy Core will continue the high level of service and excellence established by Joe.
Please join us in thanking Joe for his remarkable career and in welcoming Bara as he and the Microscopy team carry the core forward.
