President Biden has declared a National Day of Mourning on January 9th, 2025 for former President Jimmy Carter. Federal and State offices, including the University, will be closed. Thursday, January 9th, 2025, will be designated as a Declared Leave (DECL) day for University employees. Payroll instructions below:
Monthly Paid Employees – Submit a Declared Leave (DECL) request for January 9th through Firefly
Bi-Weekly Paid Employees - Submit 8 hours Declared Leave (DECL) for January 9th on your timesheet
Temporary employees are not eligible for holiday leave and will not receive Declared Leave.
Leave-eligible temporary employees may use a vacation day (VAC) or choose to go unpaid (UNPL).
Essential (non-temporary) employees required to work on Thursday, January 9th, 2025. With prior Department approval, you may choose one of the following:
1. The employee will receive Declared Leave (DECL) and be paid for the hours worked on January 9th. Biweekly employees, should post the hours worked on a non-scheduled workday (Sunday 01/05/2025 for example).
1. The employee will receive payment for the hours worked and can take Declared Leave (hour for hour) at-a-later-time. Please note that if this option is chosen, the system will not track or allow future use of DECL hours. Each Department must manually track and grant leave hour-for-hour, without entering it into the system.
Unused DECL hours will not be paid out upon separation from the University.
Please let me know if you have questions.
Regards,
Terri
