Announcing the Award for Excellence in Food Science and Technology Teaching, Recruitment, and Outreach. This annual award of $500, aims to recognize individuals within the UNL Department of Food Science and Technology who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to teaching, recruitment, and/or outreach.
This award, generously funded Dr. John Rupnow, an Emeritus Professor recognized for his dedication to teaching and recruitment, honors those who exemplify his spirit. Dr. Rupnow's legacy of nurturing both undergraduate and graduate students and actively engaging in outreach events endures through this initiative.
Examples of activities this Award might honor include, but are not limited to:
* Showing dedication to teaching through:
* Exemplary engagement with students
* Participation in teaching improvement activities
* Evidence of course development and improvement efforts
* Supporting the Department in outreach/ extension activities such as:
* CASNR events
* Activities organized by the Food Science Club
* Planning or helping with FFA, summer camps, group tours
* Contributing to recruitment:
* Meeting with prospective students/helping give tours
* Planning or participating in external recruitment events
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to submit nominations through May 1, 2024 (and may self-nominate).
Nominations should include:
* The name of the nominee.
* Not more than 250 words explaining why this person deserves this recognition.
