NCEA Executive Committee, We had a light meeting today - see my notes from today's meeting below. We are going to skip a meeting in July. In August, we hope to get an update from Brett on streamlining bylaws and Megan on Conference planning. JUNE MEETING NOTES: * Officer Updates * President, Jessica - No Update * Vice President, Amy - Working on Newsletter * Secretary, Stephanie - Absent * Treasurer, Ben - Report same as previous meeting. * Section Updates * 4-H, Beth - Absent * Ag, Wayne - Absent * ANREP/NACDEP, Jamie - Working on recruiting a potential new member * FCS, Hannah - Absent * ESP, Rhonda - ESP is preparing for their upcoming conference in Fort Worth * 2025 NCEA Fall Conference Update, Megan - Absent * New Business * 2026 NCEA Fall Conference * Megan posed some questions about location for 2026. Members in attendance agreed we are open to moving outside of Central Nebraska. In the past, the conference rotated around the state, which allowed for local tours and helped spotlight different regions. We'd love to see that rotation return, and we'd like it to be intentional and consistent going forward. Our main concern is the budget. For reference: In 2025, we're paying approximately $1,200 for facility rental and $124.95 per hotel room. In 2024, food costs (meals, coffee, snacks) totaled around $6,500. If we can keep the 2026 event within or below this cost range, that would be ideal. We'd also like to have the 2026 location confirmed no later than September 15, 2025. * Future NCEA Conferences * There was also discussion that their needs to be more structure for the Professional Development Committee. Possibly having a "3 chair" set up. Allowing someone to have their "hands on the reins" of each Conference, from the beginning of the planning process. As they move from Chair-Designate, to Chair-Elect, to Chair, they would maintain the decision-making power over the conference they began with... allowing for greater continuity.
