To all autoclave/glassware washer users, The attached picture was taken of the trash container in autoclave room 205. This is unacceptable. ALL disposable gloves should be disposed of PROPERLY in the labs, according to each laboratory's protocols. Beside the point of simply throwing gloves on the floor for someone else to clean up, the basic protocol is that disposable gloves are not worn outside of the lab, so they should not appear in trash containers in any general use areas. We would like the custodians to empty the trash in that room, but they will not do that if gloves with potential contamination are being tossed in them. The trash containers are for paper towels, old autoclave recording paper, or other non-hazardous disposable items.
To those in charge of labs, please ensure your personnel are following your protocols for disposable glove use. Thanks! Jayne
