RO System on today, off this weekend

Good morning, Because of the on-going issues with the RO system, Nebraska Nova will shut it down over the weekend to avoid potential problems. There is no problem using it today (plus the autoclaves and glassware washers), but they will shut it down around 4:30 pm today. It will be switched back on early Monday morning. So, if you can plan ahead that the autoclaves will not be available this weekend, it would be much appreciated. The good news is that there are plans to replace the aging system. FYI - the RO water is down again so autoclaves and dishwasher will not work. We went through 300 gal in just a few hours so please check to make sure no lines have been left running in your labs. I will update again in the morning as soon as I hear anything. Thanks, Jayne Stratton

Colleagues - This week, we are not going to have a departmental seminar. Instead, I encourage everyone to watch the Nebraska Lecture: the Chancellor's Distinguished Speaker Series<https://research.unl.edu/nebraskalectures/ >. * Presentation: The Little Particle That Could: Milk Exosomes * Presenter: Dr. Janos Zempleni, Cather Professor of Nutrition and Health Sciences * When: Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 3:30 pm * Where: Swanson Auditorium, Nebraska Union. The presentation will also be live-streamed<https://research.unl.edu/nebraskalectures/ > and a recording posted on the same website. I am particularly excited about this topic since the FPC helped Dr. Zempleni and his student collect preliminary data demonstrating milk exosomes are stable after HPP treatment. The FPC looks forward to continue working with his group on future HPP explorations. Speaking of The Food Processing Center... The FPC will be hosting an Open House on Thursday, Nov 20th from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, in lieu of a formal department seminar. All FST faculty, staff and students are invited to visit FPC service labs to learn more about our equipment rentals and testing services.
