Hi all,
I just wanted to send a quick e-mail to let you know that we have a new piece of equipment in the Department. A few weeks ago, we received a TD-NMR from Bruker and today it was calibrated and installed.
This equipment can be used to:
* Measure solid fat content (SFC) in shortenings * Measure droplet size in emulsions (o/w or w/o) * Measure oil content in seeds and other materials such as cocoa powder. I think we can also use it to measure moisture content.
I hope you consider this new equipment for your grants and service projects. Purlen, Ilhami, Yidong, and I received some training today. I am sorry that I didn’t send an invitation to everybody for the training, but we didn’t know that we were going to get trained until the last minute… I am confident and happy to say that Purlen is the new “NMR queen” 😊. Thanks to Purlen, Ilhami, Yidong, Yue, and Susie for helping with the entire process.
If you want to check the new NMR out or use this new piece of equipment, please let me know and we will make sure you receive training. We are more familiar with the SFC and droplet size measurement applications and not as much with the oil and water content, but I am sure we can figure that out.
Thanks! Silvana
