It is that time of year again... ASGSA (Animal Science Graduate Student Association) is selling turkeys!
All turkey sale proceeds will fund ASGSA travel and other group expenses. Turkeys will come in small (10-14 lbs) for $35, medium (14-16 lbs) for $40, large (16-18 lbs) for $45, and extra-large (18-22) for $50. This year the dates to pick up your thawed and ready to cook turkey from Loeffel Meats Lab will be Monday, November 25th and Tuesday, November 26th. The WFFC was founded in 1982 by a group of forward-thinking members whose vision was to provide women with a forum for networking, education, career advancement, and camaraderie. In standing true to our mission to educate, engage and empower woman in the flavor and fragrance industry, the WFFC is proud to announce that we are now accepting applications for the following scholarships:

2025 WFFC She Works Scholarship

Emily J. Prior Scholarship Fund - The Prior Scholarship fund program was established in loving memory of Emily Prior for her dedicated military service as Chief, Concepts and Systems Division, Army Center of Excellence Subsistence (ACES). The purpose of this scholarship is to honor and assist qualified students who are majoring in food science, packaging, or related areas. The 2024 Award recipients will be notified on January 31, 2025. Application deadline, December 31, 2024

Ohio STATE is Seeking an MS student (Food Science) to begin Summer/Fall 2025 at Ohio State University
This project is part of a USDA NIFA Higher Education Challenge Grant titled "Development of a diverse and competent food safety compliance workforce to enhance trust in a secure food system" in collaboration with NC State University and Tuskegee University.
Grant Goals:
Lead a nationwide effort to recruit and develop a competent workforce of food safety auditing, inspection, and assessment (AIA) professionals
Develop a turnkey and flexible curriculum that equips food safety educators to cultivate the next generation of food AIA professionals
Develop an AIA community of practice for food safety educators
Develop and implement a sustainable model for dissemination of the curriculum
Produce research-based marketing strategies and materials for recruiting students into food AIA careers for food safety educators to use
Develop an easy-to-access network of professionals and organizations for educators and students to engage with
Specifically, the MS student will likely focus on a project assessing student perceptions of careers in auditing, inspection, and assessment and/or evaluate programmatic data from stakeholders using the newly developed curriculum and resources. Project topic is flexible but will focus on some aspect of food safety auditing, inspection, and assessment. Ideally, a student would begin integrating themselves into the project/grant asap.
