World Suicide Prevention Day Online Programming

Dear Friends and Relatives, Please join us on September 10th at 10:00 AM PST for Today is a Good Day to Live! A free, online event to share awareness, hope and healing on World Suicide Prevention Day. Medicine Wheel Publishing presents an online life intervention program with Elder/author Pershile “Perci” Ami (Hopi/Tewa) and expert in life intervention Anthony Goulet. On World Suicide Prevention Day, September 10th, comes an engaging, informative and inspirational online conversation around such an important and sensitive topic. For many years, both Ami and Goulet have advocated for youth in violence and suicide prevention. The talk will include the introduction of a new book—Broken Home, Healed Nest. The book speaks to a journey of an Indigenous girl who is in deep pain and contemplating suicide due to the loss of her grandmother. “Because you believed me, I began to believe myself. Because of you, I am here.” is one of the many powerful words written in Broken Home, Healed Nest. This story is a journey through the sacred spaces within memory, song, and spirit world. Be part of the bigger conversation on Indigenous healing, teachings, and wisdom on Suicide Prevention Day. Drawing on their experiences as well as this important book, Ami and Goulet use their Life Invention Model. It is rooted in Indigenous worldviews of interconnectedness, and encourages youth to seek out support from community, ceremony, and our animal and plant relatives.
