Spring Cleaning: Making Space for What’s Next
Spring has a way of nudging us to open the windows, clear out the clutter, and take a fresh look at how we’re doing things. And while most of us think about spring cleaning at home, it’s also a great mindset to bring into our work.
Change is always happening—new tools, new processes, new priorities—and adapting to it works best when we don’t try to do it alone. This season is a good reminder to check in with one another, share what’s working (and what isn’t), and look for ways to simplify together. A little cleanup now can make room for better workflows, clearer communication, and fewer headaches down the road.
Ongoing collaboration is what keeps everything moving forward. When we lean into teamwork and build real synergy across roles and teams, change feels less disruptive and more like progress. Fresh ideas surface, problems get solved faster, and we’re better prepared for whatever comes next.
So as we “spring clean” our processes and habits, let’s keep talking, keep partnering, and keep supporting one another. We’re always stronger—and more adaptable—when we move forward as a team. Thanks for all that you do and for being part of the team!
Don't Forget!

User Check Out Best Practices
* Checking out users in Production should only be used for troubleshooting purposes. Do NOT perform any actions as the user you have checked out in Production. If you need to perform an action as a different person for testing or validation, use a non-Production instance (QA or TST).
* When testing in TST or QA, check out users that follow specific scenarios to ensure the process works for a variety of circumstances.
* More information on the process for checking out users can be found in Sharepoint.<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://uofnebraska.sharepoint.com/sites/Enterp… >
* When checking out a user in Production, enter specific details in the Reason field. Check out reasons should include details that would assist if an auditor needs additional information on the purpose or any troubleshooting is required.
Role Check Out Best Practices:
* More information on the process for checking out roles can be found in Sharepoint.<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://uofnebraska.sharepoint.com/:w:/r/sites/… >
* When you check out a role in Production, your Reasons should be specific. Here are some examples:
* Adjust enrollment for {NUID}, {Course}, {Term}
* Verbiage changes on eform: NBX_EFORM_NAME
* Add or remove Workflow contact: Workflow IC UNx Visiting, NUID and/or email(a)campus.edu<mailto:email@campus.edu>
* When you have completed the process you needed the role for, use the Check In Role process to check the role back in.
Review/update access lists:
* Yearly Audits:
* Check out role users
* User groups
