Good evening relatives!
We’re excited about the upcoming field trip to Omaha on Friday, December 6th, where students will have the opportunity to meet Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer, author of Braiding Sweetgrass, and participate in a lunch discussion. I’ve attached the itinerary and permission slip to this email.
To ensure everything goes smoothly, here are the instructions for excusing your student’s absence:
1. Contact Your Student’s School Building: Families must contact the school directly to excuse their student’s absence. * The absence will be coded as a PA (Parent Excused Absence). * If the school is not contacted to excuse the absence, it will be coded as TR (Truant), which also counts toward the 20-absence threshold. * Please be aware that PA absences count toward the 20-absence threshold. 2. LPS Indian Education Support: LPS Indian Education cannot inform the school of a student’s absence but can assist families with the process if needed. lps.org/indianedhttps://urldefense.com/v3/__http:/lps.org/indianed__;!!PvXuogZ4sRB2p-tU!HMlzQe1FuRwuC4mZz9qXDV-vjKV6XlRDg5nK0-kgDnhtPPJ5_4QFDr-3w_vvq9tYBHXASCcRYDZmIijG$
Don’t forget your permission slip!
1. Completed Permission Slips: Completed permission slips must be submitted before a student can depart on Friday morning. A signed permission slip (digital or physical) must be returned to Molly Phemister before getting on the van. * Email: mphemister2@unl.edumailto:mphemister2@unl.edu * Text: 402-417-6424 * In person before trip departure
Kind regards, Louise

Greetings Relatives!
We look forward to seeing you this evening at the 2024 Indigenous Youth Food Sovereignty Dinner as we honor this year’s students and welcome those joining next year’s program (information attached). We have a nice event planned for you and your families, and a warm meal (and dessert!).
2024 students – we have a certificate for each of you, whether you attended one season or all four. Please come with your family and join us in celebrating your achievements.
For your convenience, a parking map is attached. The Nebraska East Union (NEU) is circled in yellow, and visitor parking is highlighted in pink. There is metered parking in these areas – please bring a few quarters with you. There is one such lot just north of the NEU.
We’ll be in the Great Plains Room C (second floor). Sign in and then come on in and find a table.
If you have any issues, please contact Molly (402-417-6424) or me (402-327-1574).
See you soon!
Kind regards, Louise
